What is coconut water — and what is in the Tetra Pak?

Coconut water is the clear liquid inside a coconut. It is not a pressed juice, and it is not coconut milk — it is simply what stands in the nut when you open it.

Coconaut Classic in all three plain formats: can, carton and litre pack

The Classic in Tetra Pak

The Coconaut Tetra Pak holds the Classic: 100% coconut water, not from concentrate (NFC). It comes in two sizes, 330 ml and 1 litre, each with a screw cap — the pack can be closed again once opened.

Nutritional values per 100 ml: energy 63 kJ / 15 kcal, fat 0 g, carbohydrate 3.6 g, of which sugars 2.9 g, protein 0 g, salt 0.08 g. In the shop, the Classic in Tetra Pak comes as 12 × 330 ml and as 6 × 1 litre.

A single raw material

The ingredient list of our pure varieties has exactly one entry: coconut water, 100%. No added sugar (contains naturally occurring sugars), no water to stretch it, no flavourings. What stood in the nut is what sits in the carton — no more, no less.

The water keeps at room temperature while sealed, and it needs no artificial preservatives. It is vegan in any case; the V-Label certification simply records that.

How it tastes

Coconut water tastes considerably less sweet than most people expect. It is mild, clear and short on the finish — closer to water than to juice. That is exactly what makes it usable as a base: it covers nothing up.

To get to know the plain taste, start with the can or the 330 ml carton. If you drink it regularly, or pour for several people, reach for the litre pack.

Frequently asked questions

Is coconut water the same as coconut milk?

No. Coconut water is the clear liquid inside a coconut. Coconut milk is made from grated coconut flesh and is far thicker and higher in fat.

Does Coconaut contain added sugar?

Coconut water, pure and with fruit juice: no added sugar (contains naturally occurring sugars). The pure varieties are 100% coconut water; the fruit varieties contain 20% fruit juice.

Why does the pack say “not from concentrate”?

Because the water is not reduced to a concentrate and later topped up again with water. There is more on this in the NFC article.
