Can, carton or litre pack — which format for what?

The same coconut water comes in three packages. The choice has little to do with taste and a great deal to do with where you are drinking it, and with how many people.

Coconaut in every format: cartons, cans and the MOISO bottle

The 320 ml can

One serving, easy to stack, quick to chill. The can is the format for the road, and the format for every variety — the fruit ones exist in nothing else.

It has one drawback: once open, it stays open. If you only want half a glass, the carton is the better answer.

The 330 ml carton with a screw cap

The screw cap is what sets it apart. The pack fits a bag or a rucksack, closes again, and does not have to be finished on the spot.

The multi-layer board also shields the contents from light and weighs far less than glass or metal of the same size.

The litre pack

For home, for the table, and for anything poured rather than drunk from the pack. A litre fills four to five glasses and is the cheapest option per litre.

The same rule applies here: refrigerate after opening and finish within a day. Not sure which variety? Take a mixed pack and work through it.
